How to photograph your business without hiring a photographer
The visitor decides whether to trust your business before reading anything. And the first thing they see is the photo. You don't need equipment to get it right, you need five habits.
The five rules
Window light, never flash. Position the subject facing the window, not with their back to it. Phone flash flattens everything and yellows the skin.
Phone in landscape orientation. Website spaces are wider than tall: 16:9 at the top, 8:5 in cards, 3:2 in presentation scenes. Portrait photos get cropped on the sides.
Clean background. Remove anything from the scene that doesn't tell the story: cardboard boxes, loose cables, old posters. A neutral background makes the subject stand out.
Camera at chest height. From above, the person shrinks; from below, they grow in a strange way. Chest height looks natural.
Move your body closer, not the zoom. A phone's digital zoom cuts pixels and creates grain. Take two steps forward instead.
What to avoid
Heavy color filters. They date quickly and clash with your site's colors.
Stock photos of people smiling in a generic office. Visitors spot them instantly.
Screenshots with outdated information, like an old price still showing on screen.
After shooting
Upload it straight to the dashboard, without resizing. The system accepts PNG, JPEG, GIF, WEBP and AVIF, and delivers each image at the right size for whichever device the visitor is using. SVG files are rejected for security reasons.
If the photo shows a recognizable person, keep an image usage authorization on file before publishing.
